Why build a house on the edge of nowhere?

Because I love being above clouds. Because I value personal freedom and privacy. Because four walls won't let my spirit rise.
Volare's foundation is built on pylons deep in the bedrock, and the house is welded onto these pylons. The structure is a welded steel skeleton, with concrete floors. Volare has 4 stories... you will have the top two floors (visible in this picture). Support staff live below the top two levels.

We built Volare for fun. Using the remarkable beauty and absolute privacy of the property, with views of villages, rain forest, coffee fields and sugar cane, and the city of Turrialba 1500 feet below, Volare takes advantage of every vista. Lots of glass. Fun stuff like the fireplace, the hot tub on the tower, the fire pole, good sound system, and a great kitchen. Priceless accents like the antique statue of Joseph, suspended in the living room. Or the ship's portal that greets you in the entry door. What about the antique hat maker symbol hanging over the deck - older than Christopher Columbus.

The largest party we've hosted was for about 120 people who came for dinner, right down to pumpkin pie and bobbing for apples, and included a really scary dungeon for the kids to pass thru to get their halloween treats.

Volare means I will fly in Spanish. As a balloon pilot I have always loved the feeling of hovering -- silently -- above the earth. The name Volare has come to mean your spirit and how you feel about yourself.
We brought ballooning to Costa Rica in 1990. We still fly our hot air balloon Thistledown in the San Carlos area, near Arenal/Fortuna. You can go hot air ballooning with Centaura while you are in the Arenal area.

So come to Volare with plans to energize yourself, have loads of real adventures, rejuvenate, laugh, sleep soundly, eat well, and truly revitalize your life. You might find Volare is addictive - all of us here certainly feel that way.
